Assessment Policy

1.0 INTRODUCTION

Buse Science School applies a holistic assessment system to monitor students’ academic, social, emotional, and conceptual development. This system includes tracking learning, documenting processes, measuring student progress, and reporting learning outcomes to all stakeholders.
The school’s assessment approach is carried out in alignment with:
● school language policy,
● inclusivity policy,
● academic integrity policy,
● school mission and vision.
Students’ development is monitored using various assessment tools; the obtained data is used to enrich the teaching-learning process and to create differentiated learning environments for students.

2.0 ALIGNMENT WITH SCHOOL MISSION AND VISION

2.1 Vision

This policy defines objective, fair, and inclusive assessment practices that support students’ learning processes in line with the mission and vision.

3.0 PURPOSE AND PREPARATION PROCESS OF THE POLICY

Purpose of this policy:
● To define the school’s assessment understanding,
● To establish common practices for monitoring and documenting learning,
● To create a clear, consistent, and sustainable structure for all stakeholders.
Preparation Process:
The policy was collaboratively prepared by:
● School founders and representatives,
● School principal,
● PYP coordinator,
● Heads of academic departments,
● Classroom and subject teachers,
● Guidance and counseling department.
The policy was developed within a holistic framework aligned with the School Language Policy, Inclusivity Policy, and Academic Integrity Policy.
4.0 IB APPROACH: ASSESSMENT AND LEARNER PROFILE
Our policy is fully aligned with the IB’s assessment approach:

Our assessment practices enable students to develop the IB Learner Profile attributes:
